Understanding ADHD

ADHD is real, common, and often missed.

Many people spend years — sometimes decades — wondering why focus feels harder for them than it seems to be for everyone else. ADHD isn’t a lack of effort or intelligence. It’s a difference in how the brain manages attention, impulse, and regulation. And it looks different in everyone.

In teens, ADHD can look like defiance, anxiety, or just “not trying.” Without a proper evaluation, many teenagers carry the weight of a label that doesn’t fit.

For kids, early clarity changes everything. Understanding what’s going on gives families the tools to support their child — at school, at home, and beyond.

If any of this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and you’re not broken. ADHD is one of the most treatable conditions in mental health. Getting a clear picture of what’s going on is the first step. That’s exactly what we’re here to help with.

About the Center

On medication and still struggling?

For ADHD, often medication is not enough…

At Genesis, we believe you deserve more than a rushed checklist. The Genesis ADHD Center of Excellence is a structured evaluation program — the same way a hospital runs a Memory Clinic or Sleep Clinic — where licensed clinicians walk with you through every step.

Using cognitive assessments alongside clinical interviews and standardized questionnaires, we build a full, honest picture of how attention, memory, and executive function are shaping your daily life. You leave with real clarity — and a path forward tailored to you.

Who We Serve

Built for adults, children, teens, and families.

Whether you’ve been quietly wondering for years or a provider recently suggested an evaluation, we’re here to walk alongside you. You don’t have to have it all figured out to reach out.

Adults

You’ve always pushed through — but focus, follow-through, and keeping it together keep getting harder than they should be.
  • You start things but rarely finish them
  • Your emotions hit harder and faster than other people’s seem to
  • You’re exhausted from working twice as hard just to keep up
  • You’ve wondered your whole life if something else is going on

Children & Teens

They’re trying. You can see it. But something keeps getting in the way.
  • They shut down, explode, or check out — and nobody knows why
  • Grades are slipping no matter how much effort goes in
  • You’ve been told they’ll grow out of it — but they haven’t
  • You love them and you’re running out of ideas

Referred Patients

Sent by a PCP, pediatrician, therapist, or psychiatrist who needs structured, clinician-reviewed documentation for ongoing care.
  • Pre-medication evaluation
  • Structured second opinion
  • Academic or workplace accommodation support
  • Care coordination documentation
Why Genesis

Real people. Real care. Real next steps.

We built the Genesis ADHD Center of Excellence because we believe you deserve more than a one-size-fits-all appointment. We’re a team that genuinely walks alongside people — and we built a program that reflects that.

A Structured Program

Not a rushed appointment, a defined, five-step evaluation process that treats you as a whole person, every time.

Clinician-led, Always

Your results are never just a score. A licensed provider reviews everything and talks you through what it means for you.

Objective & Compassionate

Creyos adds objective data to the clinical picture, while our team ensures the human side is never overlooked.

You Leave with Clarity

No more wondering. You leave with documented next steps and a team that stays with you beyond the evaluation.
Questions

Things people often ask us.

Diagnosis is made by your licensed clinician based on the full clinical evaluation — not by any single test or score. This assessment supports and informs that process. Your provider reviews all the findings and discusses their interpretation with you personally during the feedback session.

Our ADHD evaluation program is for anyone who has been wondering — and never gotten a real answer. That includes adults who’ve struggled for years with focus, disorganization, or emotional regulation and were told it was just stress. Women who were overlooked or misdiagnosed because their ADHD didn’t look like the textbook version. Teens who are labeled as lazy or defiant when something deeper is going on. Children who have tried everything and still aren’t getting better.  Professionals and executives whose careers are being affected in ways they can’t quite explain. People who have a diagnosis but need more than medication to actually function well.

Because here’s what most people don’t realize — ADHD doesn’t just affect the person who has it. It affects the people around them too. A spouse who feels like they’re carrying everything and doesn’t understand why. A parent watching their child struggle and not knowing how to reach them. A manager who genuinely wants to support someone on their team but doesn’t know where to start. A family that loves each other deeply but keeps having the same conflicts without resolution. Getting clarity — a real, thorough, clinician-led evaluation — changes the conversation for everyone involved. It replaces frustration with understanding, and replaces guessing with a path forward.

If any of that sounds like you — or someone you love — we’d love to talk. We also welcome referrals from PCPs, pediatricians, therapists, and psychiatry providers who want a structured, clinician-led evaluation for their patients.

We use a validated platform that measures cognitive functions — attention, working memory, processing speed, and executive function — through standardized digital tasks. Think of it as giving your clinician objective data to work alongside the clinical interview and questionnaires. It’s one part of the full picture, not a standalone answer.
Our evaluation follows three steps. First, a licensed provider sits with you to understand your history, symptoms, and how life feels day to day. From there, we use evidence-based questionnaires to capture the full picture across multiple settings and relationships. Finally, you meet with your provider in a feedback session to review the results, ask every question you have, and leave with a clear path forward.
We provide a thorough, provider-reviewed clinical summary. Whether that documentation supports an accommodation request is a clinical determination your provider discusses with you — we can’t guarantee any specific outcome, but we can promise an honest process and clear documentation you can take forward.
After your feedback session, your provider will walk you through findings and next steps — whether that’s therapy, psychiatry follow-up, skills support, or coordination with your existing team. Because mental health affects everyone around you, we also offer guidance for partners, family members, employers, and anyone else in your corner. You won’t be left figuring it out alone — and neither will they.
Yes — faith-informed care is available when desired. At Genesis, we believe in treating the whole person, and that includes your spiritual life if it matters to you. Just let us know when you reach out and we’ll make sure that’s part of how we walk alongside you.
