Behavioral Health has been a passion of mine since high school when I began mentoring others in a peer program and volunteering in ways to learn more about mental health. I went on to get a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology (2014) and a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2016) to pursue my interests. I have worked in a variety of settings including in a youth juvenile detention center, doing family therapy in homes and the community, working at alternative high schools for anger management, working in Title I schools with at-risk youth and their families, working with adults and children in a grief setting, and here at Genesis Behavioral Health, working with a variety of patients! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (2019) and have been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), and have a unique degree from Denver Seminary that has taught me a lot about faith integration in counseling. I use an integrated, holistic, strength-focused approach to better serve each of my patients for the individuals that they are. Patients have told me that I have a welcoming, supportive approach, that allows them to feel like they can be themselves and work in a non-judgmental environment. I’ve also been told that my humor in the session helps them to feel comfortable. My favorite part of being a counselor is that I get the privilege of walking next to patients in their healing journey. Every day I get to see people live out their resiliency, and I can be their biggest cheerleader, advocator, and listening ear. My favorite part of being a Counselor is that I get to share the hope for healing that I have for each of my patients. I was born and raised here in Texas, and after living in a few places I couldn’t wait to get back. I am often found hiking with my husband, son, and dog, and love to explore new places!
