Denise Castro has been working in mental health settings since 2009 starting in a respite facility for MHMR. She has worked at adult, child, and adolescent psychiatric hospitals where she provided individual, group, and family counseling. She has experience in acute units as well as residential units providing trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. She was an LPC-Intern starting in 2015 and fully licensed in 2016. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University. Denise incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques as well as motivational interviewing in her sessions. She has experience working with young adults and families going through grief and loss. She also completed a clinical trauma training course to be better equipped in working with individuals who have experienced trauma in their lives. She loves helping others become their best self and feel whole by helping them understand the origins of their specific struggles. She enjoys assisting patients in developing the right coping skills and tools to ease these struggles so they can lead joyful lives. She loves to spend time with her dogs, running races with her friends, and volunteering in the community with her women’s club.
