Lisbeth ‘Libby’ Benavides

Behavioral Health has been a passion of Lisbeth since college when she began mentoring other students in a peer program and worked closely with mental health professionals. She went on to get a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology (2015) from The University of the Incarnate Word and a Masters of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (2018) from the University of Texas at San Antonio. She has worked in a variety of settings including a youth juvenile detention center, young adults aging out of foster care, working at alternative high schools for anger management and in an IOP setting treating, primarily with binge eating disorder, and now here at Genesis Behavioral Health administering TMS.
Lisbeth is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate (2018) and has been trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) techniques, Dialectic Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her upbringing attending a catholic school has allowed her to use an integrated, holistic, strength-focused approach in order to better serve each of her patients in their journey to recovery.
Patients have shared that her encouraging and collaborative approach allows them to be fully transparent and at ease. She is honored to be a counselor and feel privileged to walk through the stages of change and road to recovery with her patients. When she is not at the office she enjoys spending time with her husband and dog, watching movies, and bike riding on the weekends.
