Sarah Smith

LPC

Sarah has been in the mental health field since 2013 when she began studying psychology at Texas State University. She graduated in December 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Child Development. While at Texas State, she worked at San Marcos Treatment Center as a mental health worker and worked with children who suffered from a wide variety of mental health disorders. Sarah continued her education at the University of Texas at San Antonio where she graduated with her Masters of Education in School Counseling in December 2019.

Sarah went on to obtain her LPC license which she received in October 2022. Sarah has primarily worked with children and adolescents  dealing with depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, self-harm, trauma, substance use, self-esteem issues, interpersonal relationship issues, and behavioral issues. Sarah has utilized different evidence based treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. Sarah also has experience conducting group therapy with children and adolescents, adults, and active duty military members. Sarah takes on an approach that is tailored to each individual’s needs and what will be best to help them succeed.

Sarah has immensely enjoyed working with each one of her patients and watching them grow as individuals. She provides a warm and welcoming environment so her patients feel comfortable to speak openly about their experiences. Her role is to provide a safe space for her patients to allow for vulnerability and to not feel judged or criticized. Sarah focuses on advocating for her patients and giving them unconditional positive regard while working together to improve their quality of life. The healing process can be difficult and she is there to walk beside you and support you through your journey.

Sarah was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She grew up dancing her entire life and enjoys hiking and spending time outside in nature. She also values spending time with her friends and family.
