Psychiatric Evaluation and Treatment
Increasingly, medical science is showing us that mental health conditions are not simply ‘psychological,’ but are complex interactions between mind and body, relationships, and spirituality. Although the diagnosis of psychiatric conditions is less precise than other areas of medicine, having the correct diagnosis is very important because the correct diagnosis affects important treatment decisions.

The use of psychiatric medications is both a science and an art. Medications affect everyone differently! We make every effort to carefully evaluate the factors contributing to the problems you’re having, and then form an individualized treatment plan that, if it includes medications, uses the fewest number of medications at the lowest effective dose. We continue to re-evaluate them to monitor for effectiveness, side effects, and safety. We do so mainly by listening to you; we then evaluate what you are telling us by our knowledge and experience. We are your partner, special advisor, and supporter in returning to full mental health. Finally, medication treatment is most effective when combined with therapy. That is why we believe in a team approach and utilize it to help you achieve the best possible outcome.
